Yes, its a pity we have far too less control over the outcome of symbolic simplfications and after all, even the existing modifiers won't work as expected now and then. As it is now, very often only trial and error, playing around with the keywords and modifiers and the order in which they are applied, will help to find the representation we expect, if ever. This situation is not satisfying at all, but I guess this will not be changed in near future.
